Audiovisual Playground is a 3D, virtual, music making interface developed in Unity for the HTC VIVE. We took the idea of a popular musical composition tool called a music sequencer, and transformed it from a 2D linear interface to a 3D circular one that users can interact with and walk around.
A diagram representing how each of our sequencers operate. There are 5 "pedestals" in the virtual environment, each representing a different instrument. The 1st beat is represented by an orb with a glowing green haze around it. When a user activates an orb by pointing and clicking on it (turning it bright green), the audio engine will loop around each orb around each pedestal and play the corresponding audio sample when it approaches an activated orb on a particular beat.
